First Impression: Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera

The Lamborghini Gallardo was introduced in 2003. It is the most produces Lamborghini to date, with over 10,000 Gallardos made. Lamborghini introduced the Gallardo LP560-4 in 2008. In 2010, Lamborghini wanted to inprove the performance of the Gallardo LP560-4. Some car makers, reduce the weight of a car, while other car makers add power to the engine. Lamborghini added 10 extra hp to a variant of the Gallardo LP560-4 while decreasing its weight by 220 lbs. This version is known as the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera.

I first saw the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera at the October 2010 edition of Houston Cars and Coffee. When I first saw this car, it was yellow and still looked cool. I saw an orange Superleggera at the April 2011 edition of Houston Cars and Coffee and it was right next to a yellow Ferrari F360. I think it looks better in orange than yellow, but that is my opinion. It looks fast and has a beautiful exhaust noise. It is a great car.

The Superleggera is powered by a 5.2L V10 engine that is paired to a six-speed manual transmission. It gets 570 hp and 398.3 lb-ft of torque. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and reached a top speed of 202 mph. This is one fast car. Prices for the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera start at $244,295, that includes a $3,700 gas guzzler tax.

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 is playable in Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. It is available for both the police and the racers. Motorweek has reviewed the Superleggera. It was one of three Lamborghinis shown on the pilot episode of Top Gear USA. Adam Ferrara drove this car and reached 180 mph in the standing mile. It was featured in Top Gear Series 10, episode 1, where the guys were on a quest to find the greatest road in the world. Jeremy Clarkson drove the Superleggera.

Final Thoughts: It is a great car. If you get into one, hold on because this is a fast car. It is also one of the better looking supercars. Modern Lamborghinis are known for power, but they are also easy to handle. Top Gear showed an old lady, a little boy, and a dog driving a Lamborghini Gallardo to show how easy it is to drive.
