First Impression: Ferrari FF

All Ferraris are rear-wheel drive cars. Never before has a Ferrari made a four-wheel drive car until now. The Ferrari FF is the first Ferrari to have a four-wheel drive system. The Ferrari FF is a front-engine, four wheel drive, three-door hatchback. Like its predecessor, the 612 Scaglietti, the FF has seating for four adults.

I recently saw the FF at the Ferrari Festival in November. It was roped off from most of the other Ferraris. It is one of the better looking hatchbacks I have seen. It has very sleek lines. The rear seats can fold down, increasing cargo space from 16 cubic feet to 28 cubic feet. It is one of the more practical Ferraris out there.

The FF is powered by a 6.3L V12 engine, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission, that produces 651 hp and 504 lb-ft of torque. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 208 mph. That is very fast for a four-seat hatchback. Prices for the FF start around $300,000. That may be high, but there is nothing on the road like the FF.

The FF has been featured in Clarkson: Powered Up, Fifth Gear, and Auto Esporte. The FF is playable in Forza Motorsport 4 and Car Town.

Final Thoughts: This is a very unique Ferrari. No four-seater can match the performance of the FF. The FF combines styling, performance, and practicality. It is faster and better looking than the Ferrari 612, yet it costs $20,000 less than the 612. This Ferrari is not only good on the track, but it can be used for driving to ski resorts. Ferrari has a winner with the FF. I hope Ferrari makes more four-wheel drive cars like the FF.
