Ferrari came out with the F430 in 2004. To compete with the Porsche GT3RS and Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, Ferrari came out with the F430 Scuderia in 2007. The Scuderia is 220 lbs. lighter than the standard F430. IN 2008, Ferrari revealed the convertible version of the Scuderia, called the Ferrari F430 Scuderia Spider 16M. The name commemorates Ferrari's 16th victory in F1 Constructor's World Championship in 2008.
I have seen both the Scuderia and Scuderia Spider 16M at several Houston Cars and Coffee events. A few Scuderias and Scuderia Spider 16Ms were at Ferrari Festival in November 2011. The Scuderias have a more aggressive styling than the standards F430s. The Scuderia has a different rear diffusor and spoiler help reduce drag and create more downforce. The Scuderia is also lower to the ground. Add in the stripe down the middle and the Scuderia is one aggressive supercar. It is better looking than the standard F430.
The Scuderia is powered by a 4.3L V8, paired with a six-speed semi-automatic transmission, that produces 508 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 199 mph. The Scuderia Spider 16M is powered by a 4.3L V8, paired with a six-speed semi-automatic transmission, that produces 500 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 196 mph. Both are fast cars. The Scuderia went for $257,456. The Scuderia Spider 16M went for prices between $308,000 and $313,350. The cheapest I saw a Scuderia Spider go for on Auto Traders in $155,000. The cheapest a Scuderia coupe goes for on Auto Traders is $190,000. If you want an aggressive, fast Ferrari for under and do not like the 458 Italia, then get the F430 Scuderia.
The Scuderia and Scuderia Spider 16M have been featured in Clarkson: Thriller, Italians, RTL Autowereld, Auto Esporte, Cars TV, Fifth Gear, Best Motoring, Supercars Exposed, Motorweek, Entourage, Zookeeper, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Richard Hammond's Top Gear Undercover. Jeremy Clarkson reviewed the Scuderia during Top Gear Series 11, Episode 1. The Stig did a power lap in the Scuderia in 1:19.7. It has a faster time than a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and Porsche Carrera GT. The Scuderia and Scuderia Spider 16M are playable in Test Drive Unlimited 2, and Need For Speed: Shift.
Final Thoughts: I like the F430 Scuderia and Scuderia Spider 16M. The Spider 16M is one of the most stylish, aggressive convertibles I have seen. I just love the styling of the Scuderia. It is still not as aggressive or as fast as the 458 Italia. The 458 Italia is just on another level compared to the F430 Scuderia. But I would still take the Scuderia over the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale.
