Ferrari was the first company to reach 200 mph with the F40, which had a top speed of 201 mph. The F40 was bare bone. It had no carpets, no radio, no door handles. It successor, the F50 reached 202 mph. For the next car in the line, Ferrari wanted to push the limits of what a Ferrari can do. What Ferrari built was a high performing supercar, loaded with technology adapted from F1 racing. Ferrari made 399 of these from 2002 to 2004. Ferrari was so impressed with what they built, they named the F60 after the founder, Enzo Ferrari.
I first was the Ferrari Enzo at the December 2011 edition of Houston Cars and Coffee. There was a consistent crowd around the Enzo. This is a beautiful car. It looks like a F1 car that you can drive on the roads. The V shape front help add to the styling of the Enzo. It works with the Alfa Romeo 8C and it works with the Enzo. The scissor doors, computer-controlled wing, sleek lines, and the front nose makes the Enzo one of the best looking, most stylish Ferraris of all time. People will turn heads when this car comes down the road.
The Enzo is powered by a 6.0L V12, paired with a six-speed semi-automatic transmission, that produces 651 hp and 485 lb-ft of torque. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 217 mph. It is the fastest street-legal Ferrari. When the Enzo first came out, it went for $659,330. The Enzo is going for over $1 million at auctions. There is no other Ferrari like the Enzo. The Enzo is very fast, very exclusive, and very expensive.
The Enzo has been reviewed by Jeremy Clarkson during Top Gear during Top Gear Series 5, Episode 2. The Enzo was also featured in a segment where modern supercars were being compared to 1980s and 1990s supercars. The Enzo has also been featured in Redline, Fifth Gear, The Greatest Ever, Clarkson: Heaven and Hell, Gumball 3000: Around the World in 8 Days, Man, Moment, Machine, 3000 Miles, and Charlie's Angel: Full Throttle. The Enzo is playable in Test Drive Unlimited, Test Drive Unlimited 2, Outrun Online Arcade, Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast, Outrun2 SP, Final Drive Nitro, Ridge Racer, Forza Motorsport 2, Forza Motorsport 3, Forza Motorsport 4, Stuntman Ignition, Project Gotham Racing series, Micro Machines V4, Burnout series, Ferrari Challenge, Saints Row, Drift City, Gran Turismo, Gran Turismo 5, L.A. Rush: Showdown, GT Racing: Motor Academy, Mad Race, Ferrari: The Race Experience, Twisted Metal (2012), Ridge Race 7, and Supercar Challenge.
Final Thoughts: I love the Ferrari Enzo. It is fast, exclusive, and expensive. This is no other Ferrari like it. It oozes styling and technology. Ferrari put as much F1 technology into the Enzo as it can. The Enzo is used as a base for the Ferrari FXX, Ferrari P 4/5, Maserati MC12, Maserati MC12 Corsa, Ferrari Milechili, and the Ferrari FXX Evoluzione. Motor Trend Classic called the Enzo the fourth best Ferrari of All Time. Sports Car International named the Enzo the third best sports car of the 2000s. It is one of the best cars of the 2000s. I cannot wait to see what Ferrari will come up with next.
