2012 Car Awards: Best Grand Tourer

For my end of the year awards, I split up the high performing exotics into three categories: grand tourers, supercars, and hypercars. By my standards, a grand tourer is a high performing car that has the engine in the front and a trunk in the rear. In 2011, Ferrari released the FF and Aston Martin released the V12 Virage. Both are excellent examples of grand tourers. For 2012, the best grand tourer award goes to...

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

Ferrari was hyping a new V12 grand tourer to replace the 599 GTB Fiorano. On February 29, 2012, Ferrari revealed the F12 Berlinetta, a two door, two-seater, front-engine, rear-wheel drive grand tourer. The 6.3L V12 is taken from the FF, but with increased output. The 6.3L V12 in the F12 produces 730 hp and 509 lb-ft of torque. The F12 goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and has a top speed exceeding 210 mph. The F12 also has a more polished, aggressive styling compared to the 599 GTB. The F12 also is more powerful and faster than the 599 GTO. Ferrari has been making great grand tourers since 1947 and the F12 is another winner for the legendary brand. The Ferrari F12 is more than worthy of being awarded the best grand tourer to come out in 2012.

If you agree with my choice or think that another car that came out in 2012 deserves this award, please let me know in the comments below.
