2012 Car Awards: Best Sports Coupe

One award that I did not give out last year for the best sports coupe that came out in 2011. In 2012, there was one sports coupe that stands out from all the rest. The best sports coupe that came out in 2012 is...

Toyota GT86/Toyota 86, Subaru BRZ, and Scion FR-S

The Toyota FT-86 is a joint venture between Toyota and Subaru. This sports coupe became three different cars: Toyota GT86/Toyota 86, Subaru BRZ, and Scion FR-S. This is not a car that one would associate with any of the three brands. Scions are front-engine, front-wheel drive cars marketed towards younger drivers. Toyota is known for making practical cars. Subaru is known for making practical cars with four-wheel drive. Yet these three cars are front-engine, rear-wheel drive cars. Powering these cars is a 2.0L flat-4 engine that produces 200 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. These cars go from 0 to 60 mph 6.0-6.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 145 mph. These cars ooze sports appeal. The exterior has an aggressive sporty styling. The interior has racing seats, sporty pedals, and racing gauges. These car also make a sporty sound. Since these are sports coupe, there is little room in the rear for adult passengers. Great job by Toyota and Subaru and their joint venture car is the best sports coupe to come out in 2012.

If you agree with my choice or think that another car that came out in 2012 deserves this award, please let me know in the comments below.
